Application Monitors water installations etc. and protects equipment, e.g. computer equipment and similar. For NVP a nylon sensor tape is available (by the metre length). This tape is installed in the floor or wound/glued on a water pipe. Only a few drops of water will activate the NVP alarm. NVP can also be applied for overriding valves in cooling ceilings to protect against condensation on pipes or valve.
Function NVP measures the electric conductivity in a sensor circuit. When the conductivity of the sensor exceeds the value set on NVP (i.e. when the sensor is wet) the built-in relay is activated and the red LED lights (alarm). NVP-16 has the same function. However, both a relay and the built-in audible alarm is activated.
Safety function An alarm is given if the sensor cable is disconnected or short-circuited.

Sensor The sensor tape NVPF is made of cotton (20 mm) and has two interwoven wires.
The sensor tape can be supplied in various lengths according to customer specification and is mounted in the place where protection against water is needed. However, the tape should not be mounted where it may become wet under normal circumstances, e.g. on damp walls. The sensor tape is terminated with a 680 kohm resistance (included in NVP) and must not be earthed.
The glue type NVPL is a porous glue which is water-permeable. Normal glue consumption is about 0.3 litre per 25 m sensor tape. The humidity alarm type NVPF-16 is for direct mounting on pipes, e.g. protection against condensation. NVPF-16 has a built-in 680 kW resistance and is connected to NVP with two terminals.
Mounting NVP is mounted in control cubicle on DIN-rail. Terminal 13 may be used as looping terminal.
Sensor location Chilled beam or ceiling mounted piping: In order to protect a room with water piping above the ceiling the sensor tape is secured underneath the outer side of the insulation. If the pipe leaks, the sensor tape will become wet and NVP will give out an alarm. Room with floor drain: The sensor tape is glued around the floor drain and will thus become wet if water comes out of the drain from below or if water runs across the floor towards the drain.
